For the Late Night Edition of Two Dollar Tuesday, I used a composition book to create these beautiful and unique flowers.
A 3 inch scallop punch is used to create approximately 7-10 scallop shapes. Punch a small hole (I used We R Memory Keepers Crop-A-Dile) and attach a brad in the middle of the stacked punched scallop shapes. A second option involves punching two holes in the stack and fastening the stack together with ribbon. Next, crumple/distress the stack of punches. You will find that the more you crumple the stack of punches, the flower will have greater depth and movement.
Now, the fun part begins! I love to use Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist to provide the base color. The Glimmer Mist combined with the notebook lines give the flowers a shabby chic look. I also used Perfect Pearls to highlight the depth created by crumpling and distressing the flowers. I also experimented with Faber-Castell Color Gelatos in Gold.
For a different spin on these vintage flowers, stop by a garage sale or used book store and for a $1 or less pick up an old dictionary or old book of poetry to create these flowers. Use the “love” definition page from the dictionary or love-themed poetry to create a card for someone special.
You will be amazed that something so simple and inexpensive can be so elegant!
